Man of the Match & Matchday Captain

Hi All,

Just before I send out the match report, I'd like to overlay some context and something I'd like to try going forward. I spoke to the boys who were there on Friday about this, and will speak to all the boys at the next session, but wanted you to know too so you can hopefully explain/reinforce how this works.

I have introduced a Man (Boy?) of the Match trophy, to be awarded by me at the end of each match on a Saturday for either the best all round performance or the most improvement by an individual in a single game. This has a couple of rules associated with it though, which I need you as parents to help me with and support as I've seen this go wrong in some other sporting activities and I think we can avoid if we are clear up front:

·         If you win the trophy, it gives you an automatic place in the team the following week (subject to them being available of course);
·         If you win the trophy and you play the next week, you will be captain of the team for that week (the second new element that has been introduced);
·         If you win the trophy on a Saturday, you MUST return the trophy to me on a Friday at training - if you are not going to be at training, you will need to let me know ASAP and I will try my best to collect from you - if this doesn't happen it makes it difficult to do this form of reward for the boys.

Thanks for your great continued support.
